    Default Engine / Thermostat Identification

    Hi guys

    Help please.

I am looking to replace the thermostat on my Vec C 2.0DTI 2004.

Almost everything I read says thet the whole thermostat housing has to be replaced but I have seen a couple of references where just the thermostat has been replaced.

Has anyone here got the info, supplier or part numbers for the thermostat on its own?

Maybe other models with the Y20DTH engine have replaceable thermostats or do they have different housings? Are all Y20DTH engines the same as my 2004 model?

Someone on here said the stat out of a Quinton Hazel QHT600T is all that is needed but what stat is this?

Maybe someone with more intimate knowledge of the Vectra B and Vectra C will know if parts can be exchanged.

If we can work this out I would be happy to do a HOW2 for everyones benefit.

    Cheers

I did the thermostat on my 2.2 DTi a few weeks ago because it was knackered. I ordered the part from the VX dealer and it was about 40 quid. I'm not sure if the part number will be the same for the 2.0 as the 2.2 though. It was the whole thermostat housing that came. From what I remember seeing, I don't think the thermostat itself could easily be removed from its housing. All the engines are the same as far as I know. I suppose you could remove it and test it in boiling water if you suspect it is at fault. Do you know where it is on the engine?

I've got a 2.2dti and replace the thermostat for £12 from a local auto shop. I didnt have to replace the housing but you do need to replace the gasket which is available from Vauxhall. I cant remember how much, maybe a quid?

    Default Re Thermostat

    Cheers guys

Re 2.2.dti stat. Do you have a part number or even the make and I could reseach it further.

Re 15quid stat. Rang them but now out of stock and quoting £58 for new stat/housing and gasket.

    Anyone else any info.

Travelling for a few days but will look in.

Changed the temp sender unit last night and only reinforces my belief that the stat needs replaced. Will be doing it next week one way or another so any input re replacing just the stat will be a great money saver.

    Cheers again

Passenger side of engine, towards the top/front. The temp sensor screws into the thermostat housing.

    Default Stat Changed

    Sorted.

The stat can be changed on its own. Use Quinton Hazell part QTH600K and a new Vauxhall Gasket. Total cost around £16.00

Check out the how2 section when my post goes live.
