Sometimes the cable becomes detached under the seat, I would check this first. I had to replace my cable as it had frayed and snapped. Here's the link with part number and price. http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=115771

Its a bit difficult to see but simple to do. You need to twist the bar that locks the seat inplace and simply reattach. To make it easier raise the seat right up and slide it forward, access it from the rear footwell.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

If you wait till Apprentice has finished I'll try and get a picture of where the cable locks in.

Right, this was takes from the passenger side rear footwell looking towards the tunnel. Its just like your brake cable on your old BMX.
