It's funny that there always seem to be queries about the 150 and what type of oil to use etc,etc etc.
I spoke with VX yesterday on exactly the same issue.I wanted a price on a full service and what I could expect to be done. One of the points that came up was oil.She quoted 10-40 semi. When I told her that VX themselves recommended that 5-30 fully synthetic oil should be used, she said that was the case, but only in models from 06 onwards.
On higher mileage models, the 10-40 semi was used. What is going on?.Who do you believe?.I think I'll buy a bike,f**k it!!!!. FELIXX. (As you may have noticed from my post's,I've had a bad day).

I suppose there is an argument for higher mileage cars though, to be brutally honest.I've done 93k and its got 5-30 fully syth in at the moment without any issues,in that direction,at all,so maybe its time to take a closer look at the situation if it helps the engine live longer.(By the way I change my oil/filter every six months as routine). FELIXX. Maybe it would be interesting to know from other members what they think about oil type for the 150?.

Anything with a dpf fitted Must use 5/30 super/fully synth!!, if your luckily enough to own 1 without a dpf you can use 10/40 semi synth if you want!, PLUS it your not that bothered & want to cut costs you can use plain 15/40 diesel oil, service intervalls will vary dependant on oils & mileage though.

if you use anything other that fully synthetic you run the risk of sludge damage. false economy, stick to decent oil. Mobil 1 is far better than castrol, its true synthetic not hydrocracked mineral oil.

You will find if you use normal 15/40 & want to do a change every 6 months as long as its b3 grade or higher you wont have any problems!, as an ex haulage contractor ive used 15/40 for all of the trucks, vans & cars since around 1985 & never had 1 component failure. my brother still runs his brand new £85k volvo's on it and has never had any engine related component failures! and there thrashed (32tonne tippers!).
