Question about remote keys!

Hi

Vectra 1.8i Petrol '07

1. I have 2x remote keys for my car. 1st key sometimes the remote locking/unlocking will not work and i have to get in the car with using the key in the lock rather than remotely. When it does work (most of the time) then the distance it works from is really good (50m+) Could this be the battery?

2. The 2nd key has not worked remotely for a few months. This is i'm sure the battery being dead. When i replace the battery will it still work or do i have to get it re-programmed with vauxhall?

3. My wife has a Astra 1.8i petrol '06 and her key remote is getting a little temperamental and she has to get nearer the car for it to work. Think i'm right in saying that this is also a battery problem, correct?#

I would replace the battery in the remotes and give the contacts where the battery goes a good clean while you're in there.

Once you've changed the battery, you will have to open your car using your key in the lock on the driver's door and start the car with each key to re-program the remote part.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago and this worked.

I don't think there is a time limit as such, but I remember reading in a handbook somewhere that if you take longer than 3 minutes or you accidentally press any of the fob buttons while the battery is removed then you'll have to resync as per the procedure mentioned by RichyA.

All the info, re battery change and resync procedure is documented in the handbook.
