Having bought my 53 plate 2.2 SRi diesel hatchback some weeks ago, covered 3000 miles in it, loving the leather, the mid-range poke and economy (main reason for buying it) and good size boot I can honestly say that I like the car much better than I ever thought I would.
Only bad points are the rubbish headlights - main beam is not so bad, but dip is abysmal (HID's ordered soon!) and not alot of rear legroom (seemed to have more in my old Astra G!).
So I'm a dyed in the wool RWD, petrol engine fan (still have my Carlton GSi and two Omega V6), but travel around 70 miles a day to work and back, so thought of economy........... and I am very pleasantly surprised at just how good the Vectra C is.
Some years ago, I wanted a Vectra B estate, and a few years ago, bought a V6 GLS auto estate - what a load of crap that turned out to be. So I was wary of anything with a Vectra badge on it. The Vec C is in a different league to the B.
Originally, I wanted a Signum, but the Vectra turned up with low miles (sub 54K) and decent price (£3.5K) with full MOT, 6 month's tax, recent service and FSH. Runs great, leather seats, cheap on fuel - had to have it!
So now it's got an Opel front grille, HID's and MTechs to come, looking at Signum foglight trims and might get some pretty wheels for the better weather.
