    Default 1.9 CDTI 150 "spanner light"

    Hi there i was hopin you guys might be able to shed some light on this one.

    the history - I have had my vectra for two years and have experienced most of the common faults, induction manifold replaced (worn swirl valves), EGR valve replaced subsequently cleaned, Performed the field mod to number 3 injector and all has been good for a while, although i think the DMF is on its way out, it making some funny noises now when the clutch is held in.

    however i have increasing noticed that when starting first time after the car has been left for some time i get the "spanner light come on", for about 2minutes then it goes off, and does not come back. If i stopped the engine and restart it doesnt come back (this is with out fail did it 10 time before realising that after driving the car for a short time it goes of anyway)

    And some times it doesnt come on atall take this morninf it was really cold and no light , yet when i left work tonight it was on??? (im thinking glowplugs but then this morning discarded that theory!

    any ideas?

    I have a fault code reader religiously plug it in and no fault codes are logged? tried clearing the memory anyway

    Also noticed that the cruise control is dropping out more frequently it can be fine for miles and then touch acceleration button and it cuts out, my gut feel is that this is to do with the DMF ??

    Any help would be appreciated because i dont know if im making things worse every day i drive it

    Could be a faulty clutch switch or spring, if this goes you will get the spanner and it may explain why your cruise control is dropping out. Mind you it also normally logs a DTC!!

    DMF is dual mass flywheel, 5hrs to change and £400.
    The clutch spring is part of the clutch pedal costs about £8 and takes about 20 mins.

    Start a new thread mate, best place for decent answers.

    DMF = dual mass flywheel.
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Could be the brake switch is requiring calibration. My cruise control was faulty unti lI has the switch recalibrated - works perfectly.

    On another note how does the car drive? This could be an early indication of the throttle position sensor circuit developing and 'Open circuit'. I say 'could be' as your profile indicates the car is '04.

    Sounds like it could be the CIM unit.I had a very similar problem,with the offending unit being replaced under warranty,but the cost was quite daunting,and will make your wallet very lighter if it is this problem.FELIXX.
