Default Steering feels light at motorway speed

    Hi guys,
running a 2008 2.0ltr turbo with 18" snowies on a for the last few days ive noticed there's slight play in the steering wheel when driving at low speeds but it feels safe if that makes sense.
but last night whilst going up the motorway if felt quite "floaty" and very sloppy. I was only doing 65mph and there were no diverts in the surface for it to tramline but crossing the lines after overtaking it wiggled as in torque steer but again nothing to do with the road conditions in my eyes.
Jacked her up today and couldn't find anything amiss tbh, just wondering if its the power steering rack going up the swany or something else?
Totally standard apart from wheels and there vauxhall ones tbh
i have 5 months warranty left.
would VX be able to diagnose the problem and rectify it under warranty or is it yet another item that is only covered for 1 year ????

    Thanks in advance.

What you're describing sounds like worn track rod ends, but you say you've given the tyres a good yank, you'd notice if it was the track rods loose when you did that, so I suspect it may just be the tramlining as mentioned above.

Have the same issues with mine 1.9CDTI 150 07. Steering feels like its controlling itself. At low speed its a real handful and feels unsafe. Also I'm sure my discs are warped as feel vibration through wheel when braking hard. My main worry though is the steering. Its a totally different beast to my B Vec. Thinking of calling dealer as still have 2 months warranty on it. Tracking was done 3 weeks ago and no mention of worn ends. Any other ideas? also still feels its pulling slightly

The vibration could also be caused by worn bushes.

your still also going to have to consider the tyres as well - my old 18's fitted with pirelli pzero rosso's were great in the wet and the heat ..... below 7 degrees they were scary and the litrature on Pirelli listed them as a summer tyre ! and i found that they didnt recommend them to be used below a set temprature as they didnt perform very well

also we have had a lost of water over the past few days so combined with any diesel spillages can make for an entertaining drive on some roads

    http://www.pirelli.co.uk/web/car-suv...s/default.page

as above 7 reasons to fit winter tyres below 7 degrees !

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven
