Mine refused to unlock in the petrol station the other day (bit of a pig when a long way from home) but I managed to open it with a bit of wire - carefully inserted between car body and top of filler flap to push the plunger back in.
Anyway, thanks to this thread I checked the fuse in the boot and it had blown - I would never have bothered had it not been for this thread as the thing was locking, but simply would not unlock.

Its gone again, but at least this time I still had me bit of wire with me so was able to fill up! So, there must be another fault somewhere blowing the fuse. My reasoning suggests the locking motor must have a fault causing the fuse to blow. Any other suggestions?

Mine did exactly the same yesterday! Couldn't open it at the filling stn, came home and looked here. I couldn't find the manual release as stated earlier, I did manage the move the motor to the open position via the removable panel in the boot which was also hiddden by a strip of wide tape. The motor would lock but not open and the fuse was blown. I checked online for the used parts dealers and the cost was more than a new motor from the dealer. I picked a new motor up today and fixed my problem. Not bad a £30 motor to protect £80 of diesel!

It's one of the brown 7.5 amp ones on the boot fuse box I think there are only two there.
