Default Metal Filings in turbo hose

I took the egr valve off for a clean yesterday and noticed small metal filings in the pipe which links the throttle body to the egr valve and removed the turbo pipe as I noticed oil on the brand new throttle body which seems to have come from a small split in the pipe after the jubliee clip.

I need to get a replacement turbo pipe, it appears to come in 2 sections is this correct or has someone previously cut it and joined the pipe?

What could the metal filings be from the turbo? would that coinside with oil in the turbo pipe - maybe turbo seals gone?

    Thanks

if the turbo seals are gone you will be burning oil. All the turbo cars I have owned have had some oil collect in the pipes but nothing excessive (apart from the rst I had which blew the turbo).

What metal were the filings? Brass/copper/ally???? Any metal imo is probably not a good thing!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I thought I noticed them when I changed the throttle body but wasn't certain but when I saw them again I did think hmmm. I'm going to guess at ally as it wasn't the right colour for brass or copper

This is a common find usually after the turbo blows!, in your case you have the metal but the turbo aint gone yet, some people who have had this & replaced the turbo without doing a THOROUGH clean of all areas had there turbo blow AGAIN!,

Take the hoses off the turbo inlet side and have a close inspection for any bamage to the blades/housings.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

oh jesus, turbo is expensive I guess just to buy the part?

Is it a easy bolt off and bolt on DIY job?
Come to think of it where is the turbo?
Where abouts is the turbo inlet pipe?
Should it be a get it in garage asap job?

Maybe thats where my judder is coming from, it seems to happen 2500 revs ish now

I think you will find the turbine blades have caught the turbo body due to wear in the turbine bearing as big sid says the filings will be from the contact.a new turbo is the cure but make sure you clean all areas between turbo and inside manifold.
