We had to take back the Astra because the engine management light came on day after the car came back from the dealer.
Tech 2 said that the exhaust co2 sensor was reporting car was running lean.
Up on the ramp the front pipe to the manifold was leaking. They had to take this off when they replaced the sump they broke. They had put exhaust sealant all over the join and used the old gasket so that partly expained the leak!
It was not all VX's fault tho as when the face of the down pipe was inspected it was found that there was a manufacturing fault (the pipe had been fitted a couple of months ago by National Tyres). Part of the pipe was protruding beyond the face of the joint and therefore would not fit flush to the manifold. A quick use of the grinder and a new gasket and all seems fine now.
So the good points today, the Tech found out the reason why it leaked (although the previous one tried to bodge it, also the same has to be said of National Tyres who must have done the same).
Bad point today, watched one of the techs use an air gun when taking off/putting the VX locking wheel nuts on another customers car. No wonder they get ruined as they are not the best design to start with.
So lets see if the car develops any more issues over the next week or so..........
and yes our dealers is open on a sunday!
