Default Insignia 1.8 sri 09 plate. What they like?

Wife and I are thinking on getting one. We going to see one next week in saphire black. I am really excited about it but my wife is not so sure. As the car is heaver than the vectra and you get less MPG than the vectra she is not keen.

how bad are they really in mpg and what the like to drive and are they as bad as the vectra to reverse??? or is it just us that find the reversing hard in the vectra.

    Any info is appreciated .

Nope a 1.8 petrol as my own budget would just stretch to a 1.8 SRi petrol or my choice of the Vectra I wanted (I chose a 1.9 CDTi SRi 150 again by the way)

I got a 1.8sri and glad i got front and rear parking sensors...its definitely a bit thirstier around town, however on a run its practically the same as my 1.8 vectra was. Trip computer is usually showing 35.4 average on mine.
Its a heavier car but if you drive it reasonably the fuel consumption aint that bad. Cheap insurance also, but it aint no racing car and my old Vectra was a lot quicker off the blocks, however the spec and comfort and gadgets make up for any shortcomings regarding fuel and performance.

Personally if it was me and I was concerned about the MPG, I would buy the diesel - preferrably the 160. The downside here imo is that they have a DPF which is something you will have to put up with regardless.

The 0-60s suggest that the 160bhp 2.0D Insignia is 0.1 second quicker to 60 than the 1.9CDTI veccy!? - but its a lot worse on fuel im averaging between 32-35 (town driving)
