Not so much does as can, unless you go to 888, who offer some sort of warranty, I had the same thoughts on mine and have decided not to tempt fate and leave it standard ...

Even the 888 work will void the warrenty on parts that would be effected by the remap. If Vx don't know, they won't be bothered.

hmm, cant see that being the case.if vx had any doubts about anything failing due to the extra power they wouldnt endorse the product.as most people know any performance tuning company worth their salt put hundreds if not thousands of hours testing and in some cases millions of pounds into engine tuning,so they know its going to be a relliable package.the last thing anyone wants is their engine letting go.not good.and not good for the company responsable for the work.court case anyone?

A tuning box will void the warranty, but they have to prove it's been on.

I asked the VXR centre straight up if my Vx warrenty would be uneffected and the said NO. Just like that.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you can't aford the bill if all goes wrong, don't fix something that isn't broken.

If you can, then feel free to pull things apart and b*gg*r about till your hearts content.

nutron - thanks for your advice but this has nothing to do with the size of my wallet mate. just wanted to know if my having the car remapped would affect my w'tee.

Whther or not I can afford to have something replaced if it goes is neither here nor there, nobody wants to shell out on repairs that could have otherwise been fixed for free - especially if the things breaking are completely unrelated to the tuning.

ion - would the tech 2 thingy be able to say whther a box has been on ??

vauxhall "recomend the vxr tune" thats why they warrantee the cars all other mods / remaps done by the owner does void the warantee but as stated if the item has been removed they have to prove it was fitted ..they also say it brakes type aproval so your inshurance is void ..so thats why they like you to tell them when you mod your car ....if some one has a copy of tis you can look it up on there under the standard information section feild remedys ...

My car went into the dealer three times for complicated engine work related to the fuel injection system (an area controlled by a tuning box), and they failed to even notice that a box had ever been fitted.

I do believe they can find out one has been fitted using Tech2, but they have to take some time and delve very deeply to find it. And somehow, I can't see them doing any more than they have to on someone's car.
