    Default Clutch Problem

    Hello everyone,

I hope Iam posting in the right bit this time.

Has anyone with a Vectra C been having clutch problems?

When i start my car, the clutch judders a few times.

It doesnt do this everytime i start it! It usually happens in the morning.

So I was wondering if this is a common fault or the clutch is just worn?

I know the clutch can go at anytime, but my car is only two years old.

Any ideas of what it could be?

Do you mean the pedal judders as you press it. It could be a few things. If the slave cylinder seal has started to leak past, then the friction plate may be contaminated. Or it could be a problem with the pressure plate levers (weakened). Is it noisy with your foot off the clutch and then quietens down when you press it, if it is then the release bearing may be failing. Wherever the problem lies, with it being under warranty, get it into the dealer for them to sort. And good luck mate

It only judders when i release the clutch, does it twice in the morning and its fine for the rest of the day.

Fluid level is ok so it cant be the seals.

    Its not noisy at all.

Its like it is warped, but i would expect it to do it all the time if this was the case.

I have phoned the dealer and they said to book it in.

But im sure i will end up having to pay for it, because its a wear and tear item.

    Thanks for replying.

They might do it under warranty, as I got a new gear box, clutch & pressure plate a year back. Dont ask, dont get

My vecs the same.First thing in the morning on pulling away the clutch judders like mad.It sometimes dos'nt do it,but more than often does,at least for the first two or three depressions of the clutch.Took it back to the stealers after first month of getting it,which was a year and a half ago now, they told me there was no problem with it!WELL THEY WOULD WOULDNT THEY! Since then i have driven over 12,000 miles in the car and the clutch has got no worse.I have no noises and once the car has been driven for a short while the "judder" dissapears.

How many miles has yours done?Mine had done around the 16,000 when i took it back.Ive just come back from me hols in the south of france.Drove the vec all the way down to the Spanish border.Went up mountain roads in it in Andorra and the Pyrenees, drove around for two weeks all around that area.Did the 800 plus miles back yesterday and today, taking in the fantastic Milau viaduct,up through france to Dunkirk where today got my ferry back over to Blighty, and back up to Suffolk for teatime.Ive now covered 30,000 miles plus and the clutch is no worse!Hope that gives you a little consolation.Give the dealers hell, maybe thats what i should have done, but like i have said, even after all those miles in the last 18 months, and the recent holiday which at times really tested it,the car,and the clutch, they are both still going strong.

    Ours has done about 30k.
Thats reassuring to know that your clutch is still going.
I keep thinking mine will go any time soon, and i cant be bothered with the hassle.
Looks like its nothing too serious.
but I will take it to the dealers anyway and see what they say.
Knowing my luck they will say there is nothing wrong with it.
I will just give them "its my family car and i dont expect things to start going wrong with it since ive only had it 2 months" (nearly)
