Default making a diesel faster ?

best mod's to take a 120 in around the 180bhp mark?
also will this make the car reek more as i heard when increasing the performance on a diesel it can cause it to smoke more?

    Default

    i'd

    derestrict air box

clean egr, boost sensor, maf sensor, throttle body

make sure vaccum pump ok & check all vaccum hoses

new air filter, oil filter , fuel filter

clean intercooler and make sure all hoses ok

that should get things ready for next stage

    get a good quality remap

then use a good fuel from then on

I use V power but BP Ultimate is just as good

to make sure you can make best use of that power, i'd consider upgrade to suspension too and also go for 314mm brake upgrade

a long list of things but thats what i'd do

A quick fix is to fit a tuning box like a DTUK or a Caterman as it is called on here otherwise its a remap but to still get more I think you need to get a larger intercooler as this was the next stage on my 1.9 150 after my remap but afetr that I have no idea. You could speak to Ian at MPG or Regal as both of these companys are VX mad. I also forgot about Thorney aswell.

also try induction kit, or just k&n panel filter

power flow exaust with cat bypass

if money is no object......... bigger injectors, higher pressure fuel pump, larger turbo, intercooler upgrade

and with more power, dont forget you need to put it down, so get a decent set of tyres/wheels and some decent brakes (my next mod)

orrrrrrrrrrrr forget what everyone has said, go out and by a 150 1.9 and put a tuning box on and job done ovr 180 bhp lol

airbox mod + K&N panel filter
    good service
    good remap
    RR day

fuel wise buy millers diesel additive turns normal diesel into Vpower and its an injector cleaner etc aswell. alot cheaper than running vpower etc.

after that its a bit more expensive for less gains
    start with the basics.

diesel reek is part and parcel just think of it as a james bond smoke screen lol.

with an 8 valve and no swirl valves ect just be careful you dont end up with all top end pull and no mid range, to get an extra 60 bhp your going to work it really hard. Mate at work had a highly tuned 120 (he drove it really hard BTW) and he blew the gearbox.
