    Default

    Z18XER - Astra-H/Zafira-B/Vectra-C/Signum
    A18XER - Insignia

Fam 1 engine, development of the old Z18XE but with variable valve timing.

IMO works well in the Astra but lacks the low end torque for Zafira / Vectra / Signum.

its not actually a bad engine in the vectra, it all depends on what you are used to and what you want.

Its not the fastest, not the most tunable or the most economical with only 500 odd miles to the tank but..................

    it dont break much either.

Do you know if the plastic engine cover from the Z18XER is a direct replacement for the one on the Z18XE? Its a far nicer looking one, all the holes do look like they are in the same place too.

    Z18XE & Z18XER engine covers are a different design.
The Z18XE has a much bigger plastic cover that covers the complete head.
The Z18XER has a small cover that fits between the cams, leaving the cam housing exposed.
