The problem with the cuts is over the next 600,000 people that worked under the Government face the loss of their jobs in the next 5 years, where do they go?

yep,.. with no prospects when I fell out of work, I went self employed, found my own work and been doing it for the last 7 years.
Why should their jobs be protected, having to deal with the planning departments every day I'm glad there's going to be a big shake-up!!
Agreed. I tried hard to find work for the first year, by then my health had degraded so I was unemployable at over 50 anyway.
I daresay you, like me, could point out a few that are on benefit by choice. The trouble is, though I don't doubt cuts are necessary, they're not doing it selectively where benefits are concerned, we all get tarred with the same brush.
Instead of cuts, why dont they look elsewhere to help the costs? take our troops out of stupid foriegn countries that we shouldnt be in, save 5 billion a year and countless lives. Bring back licencing hours for the sale of alcohol, make it less available from supermarkets and increase the cost. This will help reduce then need for police to waste valuable time dealing with insanely popped up, which costs us a damn fortune every year. I am sure there are many areas that could be addressed, but as has been said labour messed it up and the current government is trying to fix it. If you want a scare, look on the net at just how much this country ACTAULLY owes to other countries,,,,,,
To claim job seekers you should have to do community service at least a day or two a week!!!!
The ones that do it now,
As step 2 is people getting comm service get locked up...
step 3 the locked up get locked up for longer, lifers get life!! and killers get killed (capital punishment)...
Vote for me
If i get in i'll make sure all car thieves get there right hand and left foot amputated also
Woah, lets not go there. That's way off.
To the topic - blame Labour. They overspent and ruined the strong economy we had.
Now this year, interest alone on the national debt is £42.9billion - yes, £42,900,000,000 just in paying interest on what the UK owes. This is a huge waste I think most people will agree.
Just to put that sum it into context -- it could have easily funded the severn barage, and the thousands of jobs that would have created and still left 10billion to spare.
This interest figure would rise to £75billion by 2015 if nothing was done about it.
The cuts are completely necessary, thanks to Labour and their profligate, spendthrift ways (MP expenses, hmm?).
