    Angry engine unbalanced

took car in yesterday as got vibration from front end when accelerating hard, vauxhall said that it could be one of two things, either the cam chain has jumped or it could be the flywheel in the gear box. When it does vibrate and you put the clutch in at this point the vibration goes away, can anyone help please?

Check the front engine mount bottom of the gear box under all the rads.

If the cam chain had jumped it would either run really rough or maybe not at all so I think maybe you can rule that out as I take it the car still runs fine (apart from the vibration obviously). The DMF's do have small brass/copper weights on the back of them to balance the unit a bit like wheel weights, if one of these has fell off that would cause a vibration and possibly make it harder to get the gears. I had this problem when I changed my DMF there was no balance weights on the new flywheel and like a muppet I fitted it anyway thinking they'd made a perfect one (d'oh!! wont be making that mistake again lol) and it caused loads of problems with vibration and gear selection, even the clutch wouldn't disengage properly and all because of a silly balance weight.

It seems to be a common occurence for drive shafts to go on the Vec C, this would give you the same symptoms
