Default Loooking to return to Vectra ownership!

Well, I think it's been almost 3 years since I've owned a Vectra now

I sold mine to fund a Corsa VXR that I only ended up owning for circa 8 months due to boredom!

I then P/X'd the Corsa for a mkiv supra twin turbo that I spent £1000's on modding and took to BPU (Circa 400bhp!)

Then, I got the news I was to be a father and it was apparent that the Supra had to go.

I then got a Toyota Corolla T-sport compressor that I currently have!

Problem is, my new daughter is now 3 weeks old and it has dawned on me just how difficult it is owning a 3 door car with an average sized boot!

Getting in and out with the travel seat is trying, being 6' 3", especially in the rain

Also, once the pram is in the boot it's game over for remaining space!

Hindsight would be a wonderful thing, if I'd only listened to every feeling I had when trying to sell my Vec I wouldn't be in this position!

I had a 3.2V6 Elite saloon, spent a few quid on it, Bilstein B12's, H&R springs, 19" Snowflakes, Irmscher bits both in and outside the car, K&N filter, Stainless cat back exhausts etc etc.

So it seems I've come full circle and now find myself looking for a another Vectra, this time in GSi guise!

Looked all over the place as ideally don't want to have to wait around to sell my car, I ideally want to do a straight swap or cash my way, sent a few emails out but had no joy so far!

I was looking at this one in Bradford, had full leather and heated front seats but the guy won't entertain anything other than a straight swap (cheapest I've found a TTE compressor is £6,795!)

    http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...ge/1?logcode=p

So I did a little more searching and found this one in Scotland.....

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Looks a tidy enough example, though wearing SRi wheels for some reason, it has the added bonus of an Irmscher grille

I'd probably pay a trimmer to do the seat centres in black leather too, maybe even have some heated elements fitted at the same time ready to wire up at a later date

Has anyone ever retrofitted heated front seats? Is it fairly straight forward to do?

So far the guy has offered me £2000 cash/cheque + The Vectra for my Corolla, he said he wouldn't begrudge paying a little more depending on the condition of my Corolla.

    What does everyone think?

I think only you know mate what yours is worth. Have you tried the webuyanycar type websites to get an idea of what they'll give you. I've sold a car that way and got back what I'd paid for it which was a nice surprise. Just a thought.

TBH I think I'm gonna go for it, gotta strip my Nav, bluetooth and ipod connectivity out first then I'm all good

Just wanting to know people's opinions on the car really and what to look out for as I'm a little rusty with the Vec's, what's the service schedule on a 3.2? Do they need cambelt replacement circa 80k?

Unless he'll take a Corolla Compressor as a P/X then I'm outta luck there....

Hi mate, not bad thanks, how are you?

Going to take the Corolla to the bodyshop on friday to get a few bits and bobs sorted so the body is mint, then I think I'll put the wheels in motion to go up and get this Vectra,

I'm hoping my mate is going to come up with me, he's the service leader at my local VX dealer so should be a helpful extra set of eyes.

Not really much feedback on this thread atm

Were there any common problems with the GSi? Is it hard to retrofit heated seats?

I've just done a valuation tonight and what do ya' know.....£5,190! They take a £75 "admin" fee from that though! but still slightly better than the P/X price I got from the dealer, well, that's if they don't pull it apart if I took it into them "Oph, I'm sorry but if you look through a magnifying glass there's a small stone chip on the bumper, that'll be £100 off..." etc.

The Corolla's went into the bodyshop to have a few bits 'n' bobs sorted then I think I'll stick it up for sale for £6,300 and see what happens...

Yeah I've still got it mate, DVLA have had me over a barrel, from the Vectra to the Corsa to the Supra and now to the Corolla, private plate ownership is expensive when you get bored of cars!

Don't forget that the trade in value if the gsi is probably around 2k as that's all I got for mine and someone else recently got 2.5k against a vxr.

Although that one isn't far off that. It's max 80k for the cambelt and upto 20k or two years servicing but really every year or 10-12k miles if you care for it.
