Default About time i cleaned my own car - messsy vectra

Since joining the forum a few weeks ago i decided not to clean my car so i can get some good dirty photosshots of her before a detail

And thats what i done today, after the weekend detailing danny1992 and grumpys i decided to clean my baby. She was a state, a neglected mess and needed some messsyDetailing

I had already machine polished her so the plan was to wash, dry, clay, spray, treat the black trim including the inner rubber seals, polish glass, glaze and wax

My son was very sick last night so i gave him the day off school and at 9:30 he was right as rain so i had a little helper

    Here are the credits haha

So on with the pics, the state of this sorry excuse for a vectra is as follows

I jet washed the car down to loosen and remove as much dirt as possible. I payed special attention to the brakes as they clog up with brake dust.

As always i clean the rims first using cheap wheel cleaner (hot rims is on order)

I used the 2 bucket method to wash the car with a sheepskin washmit. I used AG shampoo and conditioner.
(sorry no photos of this, my helper was probably slacking lol)

The car was dried with a detailing towel and a sh..a.g pile towel

The car didnt really need claying but i wanted to see how much grime was on her after a month. I used megs clay bar and CG Speed Wipe
Short answer is not much lol

The weather was holding out for us and the glaze is always a stage i love. Not only is it easy to apply and wipe off it gives an amazing result when applied by machine.
So on went the Black Hole using a DAS-6 and Sonus SFX-4 pad

    Results of Black Hole

After using Black Hole I wanted to protect the finish and keep the glaze shining in its glory for as long as possible, so I got my lad to pass me the round metal tub of wax... "NOT THE CLOTHS SON, DO THEY LOOK METAL TO YOU"
Hood coated with colly 476 applied so thinly i cant tell which photo is with it on or wiped off :s

Veccy with her beloved wax finish

Tyres were not dressed... Then they were... Thanks to my boy for helping with this, he told me that these were wheels and help us go... Who needs engineers lol

With the same Megs Endurance Gel

Next up is the Glass Polish made by Auto Glym, amazing product for the windscreen as it repels the rain above 40mph at a budget cost
Used on all glass inside and out

Black trim and rubber/sills needed a full treatment as the inner sills probably not touched from new, they will take a few coats to rehydrate but only one coat today
EVERY part of the sills were treated, it took 2 hours just to do this stage

A final wipe with Quick Detailer then Deamon Shine (nice shine with no protection - but cheap)

Finished thing! (shame we had no sun as she looks amazing)

Shame the sun went away as the finished thing looks nothing like what it does in the metal lol
Great day thanks to my boy
So thats three cars in three days, god i deserve a hot soak lol
Ive not shaven since friday and in desperate need of a razor

    Thanks for looking

Wow, what a review of cleaning a car. Nice to see you wrote what products you used and how.

Great job. The other 2 you posted up were great too. I thought I spent quite a bit of time on my car but it is nothing by comparison to you!

We could do with a detailer of your standard up North.

    Fancy relocating? lol

Mine is in really bad need of a good detailing!

Want to get colour coded side skirts, door handles and rear valance on it first though.

Usual stunning results, well worth the effort and the end - though I bet you needed that long, hot soak. Helper did well too, pics good!

Poor helper looks worn out and sick as **** in the 3rd last photo.

Was that when you told him he wasn't getting any extra pocket money or when you told him he was going back to school the next day? lol
