    Default Rip off

Car is back into main dealer for SCV to be replaced, there not sure it's the cause of the problem but want to replace it as a matter of course, £926

CV joint is split so they can do that while engine is out £122 but no price difference even though they need to strip parts to remove engine

Front discs are WAY below limit, strange that as it flew through it's MOT very recently, and they have less than 10000 miles on them

Think there trying to get cash for nothing

get a 2nd opinion on your brakes

for a car to fail its MOT on brakes they must be pretty much metal to metal and have little or no efficiency/ imbalance issues .... they can ADVISE that the pads are getting low ... but if they pass the brake test they cannot fail on an MOT ...a service is looking at what is needed NOW or BEFORE you reach your next service.
most garages now offer a free health check on cars and then these are colour coded like traffic lights... so are they saying there needed now or before the next service

My guess would be "suction control valve" but don't quote me on that

I had this argument with the main dealer when the fuel pump went for the third time on my 2.2 direct... I told them when the car was handed to them that it was the fuel pump but they insisted doing a 'we will fit new parts to see if it solves the problem but you have to pay for them' exercise to which I asked if a mechanic could look at the car rather than a fitter...

Brakes will be double checked by myself and my local mechanic, Vauxhall will be paying to supply new discs if there really that bad, as they are supposed to be good for at least 20000 miles

    Default Quick update

Collected the car yesterday afternoon and shelled out £1060.

The breakdown lists only 1 Suction control unit fitted, I thought that it should of been 2.

Brake discs worn below limit.......... Local mechanic says the discs are absolutely fine.

Main dealer said that the discs have NO WARRANTEE if non genuine pads are fitted.

Rear tyres out of shape and NEED replacing...... Local mechanic checked said tyres and said there is NOTHING wrong with them.

Fuel tank needs removing and cleaning out.

And they wonder why people don't use them
