Default Winter shoes for my Signum 3.0

It's the time of the year again when we have to/should change the tyres.

What do you normally use for Winter? The tyre has to be good on snow and ice and excellent on dry road

well i have my set of Michelin Alpine A3

also see this test that ADAC have made: http://www.adac.de/infotestrat/tests...cePageId=41873

of those i would go for Continental ContiWinterConcact or Alpine A4 (i would probaly choose the Conti, as im not afraid of the tyrewear.. have had my Alpine A3 for 3 seasons now)

I switch the Bridgestone summer tyres on my Astra to Conti Wintercontacts (on a seperate set of steel wheels) at the beginning of November.

I think there is some kind of legal obligation to do this now in Germany, but as I always swap them anyway I am not sure of the exact wording change in the law (if any).

I really, really recommend a set of winter tyres. The difference is just astonishing. I remember driving up to Flaine (ski resort) in heavy snow when the winter tyres were brand new, it was as if there wasn't any snow on the ground. I went past a couple of UK-registered 4x4s that had got stuck on the way up to the resort.

    Cheers all.

I've heard only positive things about the Conti's. Will probably go for those Tyres and brakes are the most important
