    Question What Head Unit?????

    Hey guys,

I am considering upgrading my head unit in my Vectra C on O3 Plate. i currently have the awsome CDR2005 unit which is a great quality factory fitted Stereo and the sound quality is pukka! however it dont play Mp3's. and im sick of burning Cd's really. so.. baught a Mp3/Fm transmitter that plugs in the cig lighter socket from ebay. worked for like erm... 2days then packed up, (Ahh cheap crap). anyway.. i been looking at some units like perhaps a touch screen 7" Mp3 unit? are they any good?

same question as many others really, steering wheel controls, will i loose that function with after market unit?

Ideal unit for me would be...
    • Can read Mp3's / Discs
    • Bluetooth (Would Be a added Bonus)
    • Usb Port (Would be a added Bonus)
    • Screen Display? 7" something like that would be good i dunno.
I only interested in the units the same size as mine to be honest the chunky monkey head unit as i cba to faff on with facia's etc so would rather a double Din? (if thats what its known as?) im a novice so ill get with the program eventually.. thanks for any info in advance guys its much appriciated.

Basically you'll get what you pay for. A good double din would do all that and more. They do vary bastly in price though. However there's nothing wrong with picking up a good second hand one on Ebay or something. A mate of mine just got a Pioneer Avic something or other for a lot less than in the shops. Double din too.

In regards to steering controls, you will need an adapter for the wiring loom to keep them working but it can be done.

I cant recommend the pioneer avh-p3100dvd enough, sound is excellent, dvd is excellent, has usb port built into front which i shove a 4gb flash drive full of mp3's in, plays any cd u throw in it and u can even get a reversing camera and bluetooth as extra's.

Thanks for your replies guys, much appriciated.....

The Pioneer unit you have installed Dazzy looks quality m8. did it come with the facia round the side of the screen? or did you have to buy that seperate?, camera also looks good m8, might be worth investing in the same setup, could do with the camera as a added bonus to be honest with ya, my mrs managed to kerb my car 2days after i paid the best part of £400 for Alloys.... ive never let her drive the car since..lol simpley dont trust her with my motor.

Cont1204, is there a specific name or model for the wiring loom to use the controls from the steering ?

    thanks for your replies guys.

    Street.

I had to buy the facia kit seperate which was about £30, reverse camera was also £30 and stereo was £270 so still not a bad price

Been having a look on dynamic sounds where i bought mine from but they only seem to sell it with a tv tuner which is alot dearer.

There is one on ebay at the minute though for £300

Reverse camera i used was like this one

Black facia to match stereo was this one

    Hope it helps
