    Default Stiff/slow electric windows?

    Evening.

Having just given the car a once over and got the passenger side window switch fixed using the rather good how to guide on here I decided to cure my sticky and slow electric windows. Now without thinking, muggins here reached for the can of WD40 and sprayed a few nice lines of it down the bottom of the windows. Great I thought. Sorted. Except they now streak like hell and it's made ****** all difference to them being slow.

What is the best lubricant for this? I'm still thinking how to get the WD40 off so if anyone has any ideas, do share!

If the windows themselves are stiff and slow, you need to re-grease the actual mechanism inside the door, not spray stuff down the bottom of the glass.

Right a door card off job then. Okie dokie. They don't appear to stick all the way, just about half way up they slow down then speed up again. Can hear the pitch of the motor going up and down.

Also spray some silicon spray (wind the window down) in the "felt" runners that the glass slides up and down in the doors. I do this on a regular basis and the windows go up and down a whole lot easier.

Cheers guys. I'll have a go with the silicone spray first and if that doesn't fix it i'll see what condition the seal(s) are in.

WD40 will attack the rubber, hence why silicone spray lubricant is better.

Crap. I'll give it a good jet wash tomorrow then. Concentrate around the window areas.
