Default Do i dare buy another one?

    Hi

After the months of agro with my CDTi 150 on 37,000mls, 56 plate, it got written off. I considered myself lucky the car didn't make it.

I find myself in a quandry over what to get next. I really liked the vectra apart from the inherent engine problems that you lot all seem to have too.

Do i dare go for another one? If so, can someone quickly tell me what the difference is between the cdti's and the 2.2dti's? are they even more problematic and expensive to fix or are they better than the cdti's?

    Thanks
    Dan

If you get another 1.9 CDTi either a 120 from 2006 or a 150 from 2007 on (apart from the DMF which is worldwide anyway) most of the older issues are modified and resolved, the swirl flaps, injector wiring and egr issues are lesser so to speak.

I was in the exact same position, and I bought another with not one second hesitation

thanks Derek, ive found an 02 plate elite 2.2 dti that i like the look of n while i know a bit about the cdti's now through my grief with mine, i don't know anything about the dti's. i have a mate who drives one as a taxi and its been a pain for years n cost him a fortune in engine repairs so he'd definitely advise me against getting a dti whereas i'd advise him against a cdti after my experiences with mine

Dan, so much of it is down to luck, my new one has 34K on it and a new DMF fitted last week! I also took a network Q warranty from Evans Halshaw on this car for 2 years "just in case"
The 2.2Dti is a reliable enough engine as I know if from the Saab's so your mate's taxi life could be as much at fault, but I feel for your grief with the CDTi but I am happy with mine potential faults 'n' all

hmmm, do i, don't i? im only spending 4k max so i'm gonna be getting an older one n just don't know if i can take another one being a pain like the last, but i don't like ford mundane'os (which i hear have dmf issues too anyway) so might gamble n do another vectra

i've only got 4k to spend absolute max so i won't get much past a 52 plate with a half decent mileage, after that im looking at 54 plate with 90 odd thousand on the clock

As above, to avoid most of the issues with the CDTi's best to go for a 57 plate onwards. If you can't do that, could look for one that's been sorted, ie got the newer manifold and EGR plus software. On a manual you can't get around the DMF problem, mine's an auto and I've had no probs so far (fingers crossed)

not sure if this is against the rules so apologies if it is, but was thinkin of looking at this car as i still haven't replaced my scrapped vectra 150.

anyone owned this or one like it? if so, what should i be wary of?

Looks very smart indeed if the DMF was done same time as the clutch and it was a clutch pack with slave as well I would be tempted to endorse your thoughts too!
