    Default CD70 upgrade

Hi I'm going to upgrade to CD70 nav from CD30 and I'm just wondering how much I'm looking on spending and what parts I would need to buy. I would probably go for an aftermarket arial for the GPS.

    Thanks for any help.

    Default

between £400 and £450 for a complete CD70 setup second hand.. Radio, Colour Display, RGB cable and the surrounding air vents. A fakra GPS antenna about £6.

Make sure the CD70 unit comes with a map CD, and that they are paired. If they arn't then its a tech2 job and thats another few ££ to get that sorted.

Takes about 45 mins to fit

Think if i didnt already have it fitted to mine, rather than spend £400+ on a 2nd hand unit i would consider this one

I think you mean screen, not map CD.

The map CD will work in any CD70. I've replaced my 2005 CD map a couple of times now and never needed a tech2 session for the newer CD map to work.

No he is saying that it is not uncommon for people to flog the map CD separately to make a few extra quid.

    Yes, you will need

CD70 headunit and matched display GID or better still the colour CID
If you have colour screen, make sure you get the RGB link / mini loom
Aftermarket patch aerial - approx £10 to £16 from ebay
Ensure you get the correct screen size for your car.
Facelift CID is widescreen - prefacelift is not.
Facelift air vents will need to be modified to fit a pre-facelift dash and vice-versa.

Finally dependent upon your car, you may need to fit two extra wires to the display plug

Pins 1 and 2 need to have brown - earth wires present
Pins 3 and 5 need to have red +ve 12 Volt wires present
Some display plugs may have only 1 brown and 1 red.
If you only have one brown then link pin 1 to 2..
also if you have just one red then link pin 3 to 5.

    Job done.

Are the parts hard to find? I recon I might just go to cd30 mp3 but if I can do it for under 500 quid then I'd defo consider that.

Should be possible to get the whole lot from ebay for around the £500 mark, give or take.

There were four units up for grabs last week

I remember sitting in a signum that had a CD70 with colour screen and it had tyre presure and oil pressure/level indicators I suppose those won't work if I installed one.

If your car is fitted with these then you can tell the CDC via Tech2 or Opcom that they are fitted and it will display them... same goes for climate control.
