    Default Signum 1.9 120 Elite "54"

    right guys a little help please, i am going to look at the above on the weekend, its done 117k miles

    what do i need to look out for and how should it drive ?

    Listen out for DMF rattles (or any rattles for that matter)

    The car should pull smoothly throughout the rev range although there will be an extra boost of power when the turbo kicks in. If it feels dangerously sluggish under 2k rpm then the EGR could be knackered.

    Watch for any warning lights too. At least there are no swirl flaps on these

    If it shuts down on you then the throttle body could of had it (there is a how2 on here to fix).

    Also check the Vacuum pipes too - if they are split they will give the effects of a broken EGR valve when the vacuum pipes only cost a fiver to replace if you buy the silicone ones from Ebay.

    When you test drive it, drive it normal as if you were around town, by a school or manouvering in a car park and also keep it in second and put your foot down to get the revs up to about 3000 if you can.

    This way you will test both it's low revs and high revs. I done this when I test drove mine. I told the seller I wanted to go on at least a 40MPH road and give it a little kick to check its performance. If they refuse, don't buy it as it will be likely they are trying to hide something.

    A thread I have read on here not long ago, someone purchased a Vectra after just driving normal around town and when he/she went out of town and put their foot down, the car had no "Go" about it. Luckily it only turned out to be a split turbo / boost vacuum hose.

    Right guys had a look at it today and have a couple more questions

    haven't had a chance to driven it yet but will tomorrow
    while revving it on the spot there was a slight owl type noise that seemed to go with the revs but slightly delayed, was not doing it on idle

    when turning the car off there seemed to be a metal clanging noise, anyone know what this could be ??

    also it has sat nav but when looking at the radio there seemed to be some phone controls would that mean it has blue tooth, if so how does it work

    also there was a little white smoke out the exhaust but gather this could have been from the recent turbo change how long should this last for ?
