    Default Brake line corrosion

My car recently failed it's NCT (Irish version of MOT).
Had a few faults like bushes, and window washer which are now sorted.
But it also failed for "brake line/hose advanced corrosion, offside and offside front".
Asked the guy in the parts shop what I would need and he didn't know.
Anyone have an idea as I'm not that car savvy.

Thanks in advance cause u guys are alway on the ball.

    It's a 2002 Vectra C, 1.8 sxi.

I had the same with my golf's mot after it was parked up for a year.
I just got under the car with a brass wire brush and gave them a clean, then a bit of wd40 on a cloth and rub them over. Passed the re-test with no problems.

i replaced my brake hoses a couple of weeks ago to braided hoses but you can get genuine vx hoses from the dealer cheaper i guess... just ring a dealer, give him your car reg number and see what the prices are.. many of the online places like autovaux will be able to do the same if that easier..

The brake lines themselves I am not sure about, mine a fine but i thing a couple of guys on here may have had issues with theirs... Hopefully they will see this and offer their advise..

Not done them on my Vec, but brake lines tend to be pretty easy.

Work out which lines need doing and estimate the length from the ABS pump to the connection to the hose.

Then get to your local motor factors, most sell brake pipe by the metre. Get them to put the connectors on the ends for you (matter of seconds with a flange tool)

It then a matter of taking the old pipe off and threading the new one through the same way, it will bend really easily by hand.

After that it's just a matter of bleeding the system
