Default Cdti comes on boost then hesitates

Hi all, I have a Vectra C SRi CDTi 150, when you floor the throttle the engine comes on boost ok but when you hit around 2200 rpm it hesitates briefly before carrying on, this is more exaggerated in the higher gears particularly if coming up from lower revs where the hesitation lasts much longer and the car makes a droning noise. The inlet manifold, boost sensor and egr valve are new and I've examined the rubber vacuum pipes for leaks as much as possible, they sound like they are holding vacuum when removed. Is this hesitation normal? Any help greatly appreciated, Cheers, Gaz.

if your at lower revs 800-1400 then ?? turbo lag might be an issue although not really hesitation more like swimming in treacle

at higher revs then i'd initially say egr but its new so...have they updated the software??, there is a TIS field remedy about this

otherwise i'd also check fuel filter and renew + try running a premium diesel fuel for a few tanks

It does seem like lag, just trying to establish whether all is ok, i fitted the egr so is there a software update? The fuel filter is new and I always use vpower diesel, just seems odd that it starts to boost then just dies before picking up again, cheers Gaz.

    Are you getting symptoms like:

I ask as your profile says your CDTI 150 was registered in 2005.

Haven't had any fault codes, although 'slight blip in power under hard acceleration' sounds about right, going to check it out anyway ta.

Mine happened at constant speed or hard accelearation, gary it could just be an air leak in your case. Not enough to trigger the EML but enough to limit power. All I can say is keep an eye on it before any decision is made either way.

Yep, an air leak is mentioned often, I've checked and the only possible issue is that where the rubber hose connects to the oil separator it doesn't seal properly but I didn't think it would matter? Besides the vacuum hoses where else could air be leaking? Ta.

Intercooler - mine done what yours done 18months ago, it started as a 'wee blip' then a loss of boost for 2-3seconds after 2,000rpm, then spanner light and limp mode. The intercooler had split and the car was chucking out black smoke heavily.

Like I say keep an eye on it. For me to have my intercooler replaced it cost £470 - not at a dealer though.

Ok, I suppose the only way to find out is take it out and have a look? Cheers, Gaz.
