does it need a puller? or is it just a case of undoing the torx screw and its 'loose'?

a puller would probably be recommended, but i've always got away with a few light bangs from a mallet on any car I've worked on (not the Vec C though I might add)
it just pull's off no need for a hammer or anything
1) Switch on your ignition until all the dash lights come on but don't start the engine.
2) With the ingnition on, disconnect the battery on both + & - terminals. By having the ingition on stops the alarm going off.
4) Leave the car for about 10 minutes for the capacitance to drain from the airbag circuit.
5) Half way down the steering wheel there is a hole in either side at the back, insert a small screw driver until you feel the metal plate, press inwards to release the airbag retaining clips, these are spring clips so will go back in place once you have removed the airbag. This may take a couple of attemps but it is easy once you have done the first.
6) Undo the pink and yellow plugs for the air bag, and move the airbag to one side.
7) Remove the main bolt from the middle of the steering wheel and gently pull off the steering wheel, you do not need a puller for this part of the job.
8) Re-build in the reverse order of strip down.
9) Re-connect the battery and all done.
Edit:
Whatever you do, do NOT reconnect the battery without the airbag fitted! Not that I've made that mistake myself of course...
done a vec b one before but after the main nut was removed it needed a bit of 'gentle persuasion' with a hammer
