Over the last couple of days my car is sounding more and more like a bag of spanners

It sounds worse when the clutch is partly depressed

07 reg 1.9CDTI (150) with 94k on the clock

Sounds like the Dual Mass Flywheel (DMF).

What is the sound that its making? Knock , rattle or just downright banging?? is the noise present when driving or at idle? is your gear selection ok or have you got a vibration through clutch pedal when operated?

The noise is more like a knocking than a rattle, doesnt sound as bad when driving, but worse when idling, gear selection ok. Cant say ive noticed and vibration through clutch pedal

ill back up Gazza4 here and plump for a dual mass. iv got the same model of vec as you and my first one went at 40k! im now on 105k and the damn thing is on its way out again!
