    Default Type of silver?

I'm getting my VXR bumper insert sprayed to match the vehicle colour. The car is silver but is there a special derivative of it? I vaguely remember reading that the Vectra silver was called 'Star Silver' but the last thing I want is to get it done and find it's a totally different shade!

    Any help would be appreciated!

The code is on the drivers door pillar.

The bottom set of letters and numbers are the paint code. So Star Silver 3 is Z2AU

Also be aware that there are ten different shades of star silver 3, but any good bodyshop should have colour swatches,to get the best match. Star silver is a nightmare to match correctly and it's not unusal for a bodyshop to blend adjoining panels, to try and make the match better.

to the naked eye yes but they are mixed differently...z157 has a more silver hue, z2au has a more metallic hue... only visible to the naked eye when the car has just been resprayed, after a year or so and if the car has been exposed to the elements, they virtually look the same.

If you buy Halfords spray cans you'll see they call z157 star silver II
    and z2au star silver III

I also found out that z157 is the exact same color mixture used by RAL for wheel silver, and it will match the car after you apply a clear coat to it.
