    Default Automatic help

    Don't no if somethink is wrong with my 06 2.2 direct .. Were I live there is a very steep hill and when I drive up it the car gets up no problem in the right gear the problem is when I get to the to top and on to the flat road it stick in first or second gear well what ever gear it was in .... What am I doing wrong or is there something wrong any help please .... Kev

    My 2.2 Direct Auto also does that on very steep hills. I think the gearbox's auto-logic gets confused. It uses a hill sensor, which probably doesnt get reset.

    You just need to push the selector into manual and push it up (or down...) a gear, and it will behave itself again.

    My 2.2 direct does the same.

    Thanks for the reply mate but what do ya mean change a gear sorry but this is my first auto... Can you do this when the car is moveing .... Don't even no what them +\- means ....or what it's for could you help lol ... Thanks .. Kev

    If you have the same box as me, on the left iiis another gate and a -/+ , that's your manual change, and yes, you can use it going along.
    Interesting problem, wonder if it's common to the 2.2 direct, as I've never had it.
