    Default tyre size

    needing 4 new tyres for my 2007 sri the originals are 215 50 17 but being told would be better fitting 225 45 17.....better choice and cheaper..thought i would ask my good friends on vec c there opinion thanks in advance

    Definitely 225/45/17. Cheaper, more commonly available (which is why they're cheaper), wider and lower profiled and generally all round better tyre size.

    They're also an officially approved size on Vectras (check your manual).

    No, not by much. It will slightly over-read, which is far better than under-reading.

    If you use one of the many on line tyre calculators (eg http://www.tyretraders.com/Tyres_Calculator.aspx ) you'll see by how much.

    Yeah as stated the above tyre size is recognised in the VX handbook. With regards to the speedo being out you can have the car tech2'd to adjust the slight difference if your bothered

    Tech 2 only has three options as far as I know for wheel size (although I'm sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong), 16/17", 18" or 19" wheels.

    215 55 16"
    225 45 17"

    Then the other group is :-

    215 50 17"
    225 45 18"
    235 40 18"
    235 35 19"
