    confused Signum headlights

    Hi guys,

I own a Signum Elegance on an 05 plate (cost me a fortune to keep it on the road, so many things have gone wrong with it) and I love it. Best car I have ever driven and owned. BUT I thought the headlights were a bit naff, so I purchased a set of HID lights and fitted them, 6 months ago.

Both headlights are now full of condensation all the time. It has wrecked them, so I am about to take them out and attempt to dry them (using the wife's hairdrier).

Is this likely to happen again do you guys know? The problem I got is that the level of light is now worse with the condensation and I am concerned about mould and mildew kicking in.

Someone at a private garage (the last time I had to get something fixed) mentioned that it was because they are plastic lenses, not glass.

Anyone else suffered this? Anyone know of a cure?

    Cheers

    Andi

It will happen again if you dont seal up the source of the water getting inside the light unit. When you fitted the HIDs did you cut a round hole in the rubber cover on the back of the dipped beam unit for the hid wiring or did you just leave it off ? If you left it off put it back on with a hole cut in it for the wiring grommet and seal up around the edges of the grommet with silicone.

As above, the moisture is getting in because of the holes cut for the HID wiring - nothing to do with plastic lenses or anything.
