Default help finding 3.09 drive for my 1.9 cdti 150

after some help from anyone connected to Vx

i want to get my hands on a 3.09 final drive and transplant it into my f40 1.9 150.

i'm convinced this will make better use of the power especially if re-map added at same time. having done the sums it all seems to be a good idea

so if anyone out there knows anyone tecchy at Vx who i could contact directly as a letter to them didn't receive a reply.

and on the same subject has anyone seen why the proposed twin turbo insignia with all its power is going to get a 3.89 drive. can anyone make sense of this?????

    so any help gratefully received....

Gearbox is built at Opel GmbH Russelsheim plant in Germany, so may have more luck contacting them.

    Sprecken sie deutsch?

F40 gearbox is used on many vehicles (Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Saab, plus many U.S. cars). It has only recently become available for the Insignia 2 litre diesels, or indeed any other car, with the 3.09 ratio. A straight gearbox swap would not be possible unless the alphacodes were the same (different bell housings).

Diesel Vectra CDTI's are fitted with two ratios, a 3.35 and a 3.55. Surprisingly, the 3.35 ratio is fitted to the lower powered diesels (100 and 120bhp) and the facelift V6 diesel (181bhp). Whereas the 3.55 ratio is fitted to the 150 diesels and the prefacelift V6 (174bhp)!

All have the same gearbox ratios, except for the Y30DT (174bhp), which has a slightly higher (taller) 1st gear and reverse gear ratio.

It's not hard to see why the 3.09 ratio might come in handy.

Actually, your gears are quite shoooooooort! compared even to the 120 CDTI.

The M32 gearboxed 100/120 has even longer ratios!

I can easily get to 4500 rpm up a slight incline in 6th with the V6 (autobahn).

    Here's a stock facelift V6 CDTI Vectra.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KdAl...eature=related

No problem hitting 250kph in 6th.

But your BMW 3 series/Audi A4/Merc C class diesels with comparable bhp and torque would probably be hitting the same numbers with 500rpm less showing!

Prefacelift V6 hits the same speed with another 3-400rpm more than the facelift Vectra has showing on the rev-counter, which probably explains why my V6 can reach 4500rpms in 6th up a slight incline.

I can check @ work on Monday for you as I have access to the tech drawings in Teamcenter.

BTW - I think you may be able to just change the diff to change the final drive ratio but this might be a bit of a pain in urban traffic esp. if you use 2nd alot.

As for asking VX/Opel, You won't ever get an offical response to modifing your car outside of production spec.
