My mate got done in his mrs's ka by a Polish artic. Pushed sideways for ages before the truck driver noticed. The aa fella told them it happenes many times every day. This was almost 2 years ago and the claim is still ongoing.
I'm very cautious of non uk lorrys and wont over take in lane 2 unless lane 3 is clear.

Apparently there are approx 4 times as many foreign trucks come to the uk then go to Europe, I travelled the the whole of the UK visiting construction sites for many years and noticed that virtually every car that is wiped out on dual carriageways/motorways was taken out by foreign trucks.

I was hit by a German truck a few years back approaching the junction M1--M25. I was lucky in some respects in that when he hit me as he came out of lane 1 into lane 2 i was able to move into lane 3, damage front nearside wing badly damaged, front door badly damaged. Fortunately I was in a Volvo 240 Estate so good strong old beast. Shows how long ago i had one of the Motorolo Brick size mobile phone that also fitted in my car with a large full size handset, i rang the police on this giving them his registration.

It then took me 8 miles to make him stop, i only managed to stop him on the 2 lane off slip onto the M25, I held the car on the white line between the 2 lanes and as he tried to get past I blocked his lane. eventually he had to stop. When i asked him why he did not stop he said it is my fathers lorry and he will not be very happy, by this time the "old bill" had arrived and forced him to give me all the details took 18 months to get insurance/compensation paid out.

Simple answer All Foreign Trailers are loaded onto ferry/etc and UK HGV Tractor units move them around UK, our Trailers are loaded onto ferry etc
and when they get to France etc European Track Units move them around Europe.

The Foreign lorrys never by Derv over here or food etc so do not contribute to our economy in any way. This would cut out 75% of HGV accidents and would also put our transport companies on level terms regarding pricing. Thick I will send this to the Government they are the equivelant of the Stealers, thing of all the 75% extra taxes on all the Derv used and purchased in the UK

    sorry its a long rant.

Funnily enough, last year I nearly took out a Transit on the M25 - I only saw him because it was night time and he went over a bump
Seriously, its all well and good the EU telling the truck manufacturers to put extra mirrors on trucks, but they NEED to sort out those blindspots the mirrors DONT cover.

    Its not just LHD ones.

Seen many a UK lorry driver carrying too much speed and rather than slowing down just indicate and start to pull out expecting you to brake or change lanes. Or if they do decide to let you go past they pull out and sit on your boot lid.
