You can get 4 tyres fitted for £330 falken 452's in the slightly incorrect size of 225/40/18. Had them on mine and no problems what so ever.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Correct tyres should be 225/45 R18 about £100 a corner for mid range ones.

Can get cheapo's for around £65 each.

Yes it does as the further away from 225/45/18 you get the further out your speedo becomes. Try 235/40/18, 225/45/18 or 225/40/18 as they are all good sizes with 225/40/18 being the cheapest option but also the furthest out from the correct size out of the three I have listed.

As BigSig says, it does matter, the ones you have fitted are wrong.

    225/45x18 gives
    Diameter 659.7mm
    777revs/mile

    265/35x18
    Diameter 642.7
    797revs/mile

So you'll have a speedometer reading that's 2.6% too fast.
