I saw in the Sun newspaper that Clarkson had another
POP at Vauxhall Vectra saying he was at a motorway
Accident with 5 vehicles involved, was left there waiting for
hi-viz brigade measuring the road. Said waist of time SD there was Vectra involved
implying that was cause of accident.

If it had turned out to be fatality they would want to
know how caused it.
Bet he would not be happy if it was one of his loved ones
in a fatal RTC and old bill had failed to find guilty driver.

I wonder if we have the technology now though to take an aerial photo of the crash scene and work out the detail later. I know it's tragic that people die in RTA's and I lost a friend myself when I was much younger.

Truth is though shutting a motorway for 3 plus hours is a little silly?

As well as measurements they need to check for skid marks
and do skid test themselves to see what speeds vehicles were
travelling at.

I have been at quite anew fatality accidents whilst working
on Tfl red routes in London and they have to do a full electronic survey
as part of a report that will go to Coroner.

The police skid test are pointless unless they went and got identical tyres from the same batch dont you think?

Skid marks and other marks caused on the road by the incident, and the damage to vehicles involved can help the police to calculate the speed positioning and trajectory of those vehicles before, during and after the incident, I assume by means of clever software.

Thought it was standard to measure the length of the skid however does ABS not prevent this so what do they measure instead? The skids in the drivers pants?

I like Top Gear and his evaluation of the Veccy isn't entirely unfair, but his ego is too big. What about the family(s) involved? Sometimes he can be thick.

Does anybody actually care what a jumped up self obsessed tv presenter has to say anyway? But i do take your point, he is, sadly, very much in a position to bad mouth whatever he likes and some poor deluded souls will believe him.

So what if they close the motorway? It's no fun being stuck in a jam for hours but get some perspective! I'd expect and accept nothing less that a full and thorough investigation where there has been a fatality or serious injurys. If it was his, yours or my loved ones we'd want answers and justice.
