Mine is intermittent, Ive noticed I get the spanner light on when I have the car set to pre ignition position with the key, until the glowplug light goes out. The spanner will go when I turn the car on.

Sometimes, when starting later in the day after the first cold morning crank, the car will fly through the gears sometimes, i notice, if I hold the key in the pre ignition position until the fuel pump is heard primed, and then cranked the car can accelerate sluggish and be intermittent on and off in its acceleration, sometimes holding back, and sometimes going full beans.

If on the secondary starts during the day after the cold morning crank, and no further glow plug warning lights during these times, I get in and turn the key straight away it feels better.

I am aiming towards a glow plug issue myself having read on here.

After messing about with it last night I found a split in the turbo pipe so I've ordered a new one of those and out of curiousity I removed the new glow plugs and put the old ones back in which stops the spanner light staying on permantly - it goes on for a few minutes when starting the car and goes off itself!

Im beginning to think the lack of performance is due to the pipe as I read that someone had a similar problem and new piping solved it! unfortunately I won't get the piping til wednesday so I'll have to do my 250 mile trip with my car acting like a 1.1

gaffer tape the pipe up with some really strong tape where its split and it will last you til the new one comes. should give you your performance back as well.

oh cheers! I'll put some on when I get home - didn't want to tape it incase I put the wrong type of tape on and it wasn't strong enough and would cause more problems!

Changed the small rubber bit but couldn't get the pipe out of the vac lol ... it was getting dark and since theres no electric in my garage I decided to just do a quick fix! As I need the car for University and work this weekend!

And it makes one hell of a difference!

The boost vacuum hoses do tend to perish and split on Vectra's.

You might also want to check the other small tube that can be seen in the top right of the photo that you posted above. This is part of the same boost vacuum system

I changed mine not long back for the 4mm silicone tubing (There's a thread / How2 on here somewhere) and the car feels great.

I like what you have done there I have the 4mm silicone hose waiting around for when that joint finaly fails but I have been reloctant to fit it yet as im worried about it collapsing with it being so soft.

Am i right in thinking you have just changed the elbow joint and connected to the existing hard plastic tube ?
