Default Liqui Moly Diesel Throttle Valve Cleaner - Any Good???

I have come across this product (Liqui Moly Diesel Throttle Valve Cleaner) online and it reads well. Used an equivalent on a Petrol Passat before and it made quite a difference. Surely would beat taken the intake off to clean and reassemble - or will it?

Any feedback on either method would be really great as I am rapidly approaching the 100k mark and have just cleaned EGR (a doddle) and boost sensor (5 Minute job).

Naturally if anyone wants to order it and try it for me better yet

May even be worth a group order from good old Germany

Best way to clean the "throttle body" and manifold is drive the car at 125mph for 100 miles. Worked wonders on my V6CDTi

If I were you I'd take the intake off and soak it in petrol Should clean it nicely

Or 70mph in 4th gear I suppose. That would be about the same airflow

Do I need to mess with the timing belt when I take the manifold off???

The so-called "throttle" valve serves different purposes on the 1.9 and 3.0 engines.

On the 1.9 it appears to be an electronically controlled device used to aid exhaust gas flow when the EGR valve is opened and on the 3.0 it only seems to serve the purpose of being a 'shutdown' valve, the same as it does on the DTI's.

In either case a bit of cleaning wouldn't go amiss.

As correctly stated by diesel dog; in a common rail diesels the EGR is used throughout the rev range. The 'butterfly' allows the ECU to control the amount of air flowing in to the manifold during EGR operation.

I would say it is a 'shut down valve' (as mine gives a 'shake' when I switch the engine off) on the 1.9's as well as being for emissions control.

70/4th you would be better doing 90 in 3rd!, Easily achievable with the cdti 150 (without going into the red!), Any-how's 'why' would you be wanting to ''clear'' out the throttle valve (body), If its connected to the 'old type manifold 'I' would just rip the piece of junk off!, Clean the other components, Then consider an oil separator divert! Job Done.

With 215/50/17 tyres fitted, the 150 Vectra's achieve a genuine 80.77mph @ 5000rpm with the 1.321 3rd gear ratio and its 3.55 final drive ratio.

Which is exactly the same speed that my V6 gets (allowing for speedo error) with the same gearing.

Which is what many with the 1.9 engine have done.

Not keen on the open to atmosphere ones though, particularly having discovered that the fumes coming from them are actually highly explosive hydrocarbons!

dd it's only the final drive and possibly the 6th gear ratios which are changed to accomodate the extra torque.
