what lies beneath the seat

Hope i got this question in the right area.
have been rooting around under drivers seat and passenger seat ,came across a small box under both seats with wires and that got to another connector under the seats.
Now as i do not have heated seats , passenger recognition or electric seat adjustment i was wondering what they are.
So hope some one can answer this well you never know it might be a new form of vx torture system lol .
The car is a 55 reg vectra c

Yep, as bandrew said it'll be for the pre-tensioners. That big plug deals with whatever electrical bits you've got in the seats - heated, electric etc. They'll just be more wires on other models - in fact a number of cars often have the wiring in place under the seat for heated seats.

as i mentioned i have no electrical gadgetry for the seats at all would a photo help ?

You will have pre-tensioners as standard - as well as side airbags as Drinky has mentioned - so that will be why you have the plug.

AHH forgot about the air bags now that seems only the logical thing it can be .
I had forgotten about the bags in the side,all this curostiy came about when i dropped spare garage key under the seat next time is stays where it falls lol
