Default Spoons VXR on Television Show

I've been approached by UK Street Cars to participate in a TV Program on Performance Cars... they want the Vectra VXR...

    Would you do it?

    Here is the email

UK Street Cars have been approached by a TV company asking for performance/tuned cars to be in a new programme they are making. As a feature they are planning to run a "best tuned car" competition. They are looking for the best tuned car and will choose at the end of the series the one they think is he number 1.

Ideally on the day they would like to have a car representing different models (e.g. Ford, Vauxhall, BMW, VW, Japanese) They will have a professional racing driver "John Thorne" from Thorney Motorsports who will take the car out on track. They will then score the car on different criteria... e.g. style, money spent, attention to detail, performance etc. The selected cars will receive a free track day, receive the chance to show off their pride and joy on TV, receive professional tuning advice from John who is an expert in this field... Plus be in the running to have their car announced as the number one tuned car!

If you want your car to be put forward for this you must be free on the 30th October. Please contact us as soon as poss at ****** with a picture and a write up in no more than one hundred words why you think your car is number one.

We will then forward your entry on to the TV company and will let you know if you know if you are successful or if they want more details from you.

    Thanks very much,

    UK Street Cars Admin

However, I've seen some of these 'street' performance cars and they have been completely built from scratch.. stripped out racing cars some of them.

So my Vectra VXR will seem very heavy, unresponsive and slow compared to these stripped out cars.

Having Clarkson already ripping into the Vectra VXR... I dont want to be responsible for another 'slating' on national television.

Also, I dont fancy anyone ragging my car around a race circuit except me... at least I'm the one enjoying it.... and if it all goes wrong I dont want a camera in my face watching it getting stuffed into the barriers !!

    So a bit undecided....

If you do decide to do it, you'll need to get a shift on with the performance increase you mentioned not long back!

I would be wary too of someone else ragging my car about while I stood and watched.

Yeah, no chance of this happening.

    1) The Insignia VXR Turbo upgrade isnt available yet
    2) It would need watercooler, intercooler, remap, fine tuning...
    3) New Race Clutch to cope with above

No time to do all that.... and I'd want it all settled and be happy with the upgrade before it went on track.

I'd love to get mine on a track or something where I could rag the hell out of it but I need it working properly first before thinking of anything like that!

Still wouldn't be keen letting someone else rag it. Don't think I would be able to watch!
