    Default Boost sensor prob

Hi all Recently had probs with car hesitating around 1800 revs decided to clean boost sensor fetched it out it was well oiled up with black tar like gunk used some carb cleaner and a soft toothbrush on it and after several minutes it was clean
However me thinks i may have been a bit heavy handed with it the car starts and runs fine but i have got the exhaust emissions light on dash constant on when engine is running
can someone tell me is the boost sensor also known has a map sensor and ive seen this one on ebay is it right for my 55 plate facelift cdti 120 ? cheers Daz

No. Your MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor is the one just outside your air filter box.

The boost sensor is delicate so you have to be gentle with it.

Have you cleaned the EGR lately?

    Don't know.

Post a link and I'll take a look and see if I know what it is.

if your boost was dirty then so too will be your egr......
give it a clean as per how to.

make sure all is free and easy before you put it back

then go for throttle body next thats always worth a good clean.

once you've dont that , your warning light shoudl go out though you might find error codes are retained for a good 20 or so starts

Yep the boost sensor is really called the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor. On the 1.9 diesels, it can be found on the back-right of the inlet manifold by the EGR valve. It measures the pressure in the inlet manifold and is prone to getting clogged with oily sooty deposits due to both the oil breather pipe and exhaust gas (from EGR) being fed back into the Inlet manifold.

The MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor is situated between the airbox and the turbo. It measures the amount of air flowing through into the turbo. It is very delicate.

So the link to ebay looks good.
