Strange Happening or not !

Just come back up the M1 via the M62 and when I took the fast left hander that takes you from the 62 onto the M1 the spanner light appeared and it was no power time ! - so onto hard shoulder switch off engine, fingers crossed started it up again and off we went no probs.
Engine oil level OK but was just coming onto reserve (1.9 dti 07 reg)

So guys what do think left hand bend low fuel in the tank engine gets starved
or something more sinister !

every possibility it would have been fuel starvation - hopefully it would have stored an Error code = use the pedal test (if it works on yours) and see if any fault codes are stored

Possibly dragged some crap through from the tank and temp blocked an injector?

mine was on low it did same whn i went up a hill switched off. eventually started but limp mode next day it was fine.

wot i did notice is before if i on ignition all lights went off apart from eml and 3 reds on left.
now on ignition evn the spanner says on but on startup it all goes ok so i assume it must hav stored a fault.

I was in the dealers asking them a question about a problem I'm having and mentioned that the spanner light is on when I turn the key but goes out after start up of the engine.

The workshop manager told me "They all do that"

The three red lights on the left I believe are, in no particular order, handbrake, oil & battery lights. This is normal at start up.

ive noticed this on a previous 120 vec but mine or a mates had no spanner on ignition it use to go out before start up.

Strange but I am only repeating what the workshop manager told me.

I agree with you though as at my last service a year ago, they got rid of the spanner light but it came back a number of months later.

The spanner light coming on and then going off after a few seconds means that there is a stored fault that is no longer active.

My car also does the fuel starvation thing on a sustained left hander when low on fuel. I guess it is just the position of the fuel pickup in the tank. I have never had the light come on though, just stutter and no power for a couple of seconds and when exiting the bend it is OK and picks back up.

No realistic chance of sucking anything out of the tank and blocking injectors - filters prevent this. There will be a strainer on the end of the pick up to stop course debris and there is a fuel filter to effectively keep out anything that may cause damage to the FIE.
