1999 s3 quatro vs 57 plate veccy vxr?

So my naighbour just got a v reg audi s3 quatro rekons its running around 267bhp, he sayin it will wipe floor if it was ever up against the local lad wi a standard vectra vxr... Think he talking rubbish or what??

These things are stupidly fast.. so it wouldn't surprise me after all the S3 is lighter and in the corners - the Vectra is left behind I wreckon especially as the Audi has AWD too.

i think the vectra it will keep up with it, s3 4 wheel drive will slow it down.

Never underestimate AWD, however in a straight line I doubt there will be much in it between a 280 and the s3, round the twistys, maybe a different matter as the S3 will have more grip on roundabouts etc.

Also if its wet, I doubt the S3 would notice compared to the VXR

What about in a sraight line? S3 is only 2.0 turbo yes 4 wheel drive but the vxr engine is bigger by far isnt it?

It's not the engine size, if your neighbour's figures are correct then the S3 has a big advantage imo, smaller engine - bigger power hence it is lighter too.

S3 light! Its german and if its owt like a golf weighs about 2.5 tonne! Lol, lets not forget the age of the s3 its 11 years old wi 96k on clock compared with a 2 year old fresh vxr engine!....? Must admit it does look like a beast as standard! Seems really wide and the dump valve sounds mint

S3 isn't a 2litre turbo it will be a 1.8t at that age

Quick cars and I honestly think a stock vxr would struggle badly
