Angry say hello wave goodbye :(

    hello people,
well im new to the site and im new to the vectra scene. i bought a 1.9 cdti exclusiv a couple of weeks ago, everything was going well, payments were a bit high and insurance was just about bearable (as im only 19) but then today the sh*t hit the fan.
i got a letter off my insurance stating they needed proof of my '2 years NCB' ?! so i checked online and it apears that i have misread and put that i have 2 years NCB, i must of thought it was asking how long i had been driving or something, well i dont know what i thought but anyways.
so i have checked insurance with everything being triple checked and it has gone just a few grand over budget.
so this is my dilemma, do i stay working 60/70 hours a week to pay for a car which i absolutely love, or do i just quit now. but then i have a car on finance to sort out!
has anybody been in this situation before of cancelling finance? i know it will cost me but i just dont know how much! i just hope they dont expect me to pay back the full amount for the car.

any advice is appreciated as its really ****ed me off today!

    thanks guys.

You're 19 m8, enjoy your life (I mean by not working the long hours), cars will still be getting made in 7 years (with better models to choose from) and then you can buy the one you want at a price and running costs you can afford without working 70hours a week m8 that isn't good for your health no matter what the reason.

i know i shouldnt be working mega hours in a week as it does me over in terms of sleep and then patience throughout the day but i love the car to bits. and i dread to think what would happen if i told the car dealer that i couldnt afford the car anymore, maybe reposession and then still be paying for it for years when i dont own it

If you are prepared yo work then fare enough, but just think about it all in five years time.

Have you shopped around for insurance? What Excess would you be prepared to go to etc.

Up your excess as this can make quite a big difference and shop around. Look for young driver insurers as again it can make a difference.
I am giving this info through experience gained by getting my daughter insured at 19 with no No Claims, her own policy, her own car and a brand new driver.

could you not get the car on a policy as a named driver with your parents as policy holder.

this might cause issues with the fianance company though if you need to change your registered owner but better that than be forced to sell or worse fall into debt and miss payments.

i'd investigate all options before making a hasty decison to sell as sure as eggs are eggs, you will probably lose money by sellling on. definately don't give it back to the HP company unless you have no option. remember if its on credit, the car technically and legally are still the property of the fianance company.

and they are there to do what----make money--so don't make a rash choice

    cheers

Speak nice to your parents, see if they will insure it in their name and add u as a named driver
