Default Door Lock/Unlock buttons not working

    Hi everyone,
I bought a 56 1.9cdti 150 about a month ago and love it to bits.

Done a few upgrades already as suggested in the forums. Done the airbox mod and impressed by the improvement. Also fitted some rear parking sensors from Ebay for £16 which took 20 minutes to fit, again well impressed.

But have had a few niggles with it and after reading through this forum have found every one to be quite common.

    1) Dash suddenly stopped working - SOLVED by removed F15 fuse by the glovebox
    2) Wobbly wing mirror - SOLVED by some "Sticks like s**t"
    3) Self removing gear knob - SOLVED with some more "Sticks like s**t"

One thing that really annoys me though is having to unlock the car twice using the keyfob to unlock all the doors, but again found the valuable information on here to change it so that all doors open with one click.

Unfortunately though it appears my Lock/Unlock door buttons on the drivers door don't work. All the other buttons work (windows and mirrors etc) and the lighting of the pannel works, but neither of the lock buttons work at all so am unable to change the central locking setting.

Before I start pulling the door apart I thought I'd check here first to see if there was an easy fix.

    Thanks in advance
    Steve

Pop the switch panel out and dismantle it, the just give the contacts a good clean. Its quite common mate, they just get a bit dirty. HTH

Thanks. Is it possible to pop out the panel without removing all the door panel?

Yes, just stick a small screwdriver or something down the end (careful you dont leave a mark on the door panel), it will just pop out.

Just happen to have one of those switches sitting on my desk in front of me as my new one for my rear electric window conversion arrived this morning lol

It's the silver clip on the left of this picture, there's one on each end.

Just taken it apart, cleaned all contacts and still no joy, so I log on and see the above comment! Doh! Didn't check that contact. Will go take it out and try again. LOL.

or is that just a clip??

No, that was just showing you the clips you had to free to pop it out of the door. You have to completely disassemble the entire switch and clean all the contacts under the rubber pads then re-assemble it. There's a howto on the site somewhere in the howto section.

Brilliant. Thank you. I looked in the How 2 section but didnt spot that.

I took the rubber bit off and gave the contacts a wipe the first time, didn't use sand paper though. Will try again with sand paper.

DO NOT USE SANDPAPER - you will wear off the very fine contacts

all you need to do is use a pencil rubber to give it a clean
