    confused White puff of smoke

    HI,

In relation to my "Hesitating whilst driving" thread, I have noticed that when the problem occurs whilst having bonnet up, car in neutral and giving it a rev, when the revs drop off I get a small white puff of smoke from the front of the engine bay near to the radiator.

Has anyone experienced this or anyone who can advise what is causing it please?

No EML coming on but the car loses power temporarily at the same time that this happens.

    All comments welcome.

Give me a clue where I'd be looking on that one please mate.

It it the silver one that runs along the front of the engine bay?

If so, how much is it to replace and is it a big job?

Could also be the intercooler itself that's split.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Where would I be looking and what for?

How much to replace / repair?

Big Sig - The car drives ok except for when it has it's little "episodes" that last a few mins. Apart from that, it drives great. Just a stab in the dark but could it be a hose or the intercooler pipe along the top of the radiator (I thinks thats an intercooler pipe).

I'd have thought if the intercooler itself had gone, it would have driven like a bag of crap ALL of the time???

Could be either, but a puff from that area says to me there is a hole somewhere. Either get it booked in and describe what you have found or get your hands dirty and find it the hard way You know roughly where its coming from so have a good poke about to narrow it down further.

Will do. Just a bit wary of putting my hand down near the radiator as those fins are like bleedin' razor blades!

Thanks for the help Big Sig.

If its the intercooler pipe then to buy from vauxhall is about 110 quid. U get 3 parts with it maybe its only one that was torn or burst like mine was, but u can still only buy the 3 parts. Is was the rubber rub that was torn on mine. So if its the pipe that u need then u can have mine as i dont need it.

Thanks Danny. I still need to check it though to see if it is the pipe or whatever else it could be. Was your car doing the same as mine?

Hesitating with the power and getting the small puff of white smoke from the front of the engine bay?

Do it when the engine is stone cold /unplug the fans/remove fuses? Might through up an error code though but its safer.
