Saab 1.9 TTiD engine

Unfortunately for Vauxhall, they didn't get Fiat's 1.9 Twin Turbo Diesel engine that the Saab 9-3 got as GM wanted it's own 2.0 CDTi. I am wondering if the TTiD can fit in the Vectra. Are the chassis the same for the 1.9 single turbo and the twin turbo (Saab)? If so, does anyone know where I can get a 1.9 TTiD engine block?

I can only imagine as they are the same car effectively underneath then there shouldn't be a problem, who really knows.....

Think a breakers would be your best bet if they can be fitted to a Vectra.

That is a question for someone with knowledge to answer.
The reason I'm asking is because I look in Total Vauxhall magazine and see engine conversions (not just vauxhalls), so anything seems possible. Would be nice to build (pay someone lol as I am not in anyway technical) a car that is unique.

Maybe so, but what I am trying to do is have something that I can say is mine. The cheapest 1.9 TTiD at the moment is £10995 (I think) and why get rid of mine to spend more money on finance.
I want to keep my car as I like the look of it. I want to do a project and there are always going to be easier things to do, like just buy a different, more powerful car. Where's the fun, excitement of seeing something come together, from scratch?

I would guess no, as the canbus seems a nightmare to swap engines etc over, a few have tried but noone as far as i can recall have succeeded.

My parents have the aero with this in it but they are on there second engine after 12k due to overrun, SAAB told them they have fitted quite alot of new engines in the UK due to this fault which was very surprising to me and it certainly was very surprising to them!(parents)

unless you're a programming wizard, then i'd say no also

the operating systems are unique to saab / vauxhall and not interchangeable. Saab won't let GM have their coding according to another post i've seen on another forum,

so even if you managed to get an engine, chances are that you won't be able to get it functional

its a shame really as the prospect of twin turbo really is quite exciting with its tuneability

perhaps the overrun issue is the reason that Vx never went for the twin turbo....even though they did suggest the test model was quite a beast.

even replacing the turbo with a larger unit would be a problem.

but then its software so someone out there should be able to fix it given time and i guess access to the source code

Did Vx not test a 2.0 twin turbo version which is a totally different unit?

not sure if they haven't got one planned for the insignia

i'm sure they will - perhaps it will be as close to A VXR Diesel as you will ever get

the 1.9 tt was tested a long time ago and was muted for the vectra but never made it. I guess demand just wasn't there as the recession kicked in.
