Electronic book. Supposed to be the best one available at the moment.

iPad can do a lot more, but is less suited to book reading as the bright colour screen uses power constantly. The Kindle (plus other ebook readers) use a different display technology that only uses power when you 'turn' a page, so last much longer on a single charge.

I have the Android Kindle App on my HTC Desire. It's obviously not the same reading experience, even with the screen brightness turned down due to the different technologies involved but I have played with one in-store. They're OK - hold lots of books, charge lasts a long time, but quite expensive as they're still 'new' technology. Despite loving technology, I have to say I still prefer holding a real book (which you can get from the library for free if you wish!) when reading.
