Any thoughts? Experiences?
I have a penpal in US thinks they're the best thing since sliced bread. Thinking of having a look at one myself.
What is it? A cheap version of the iPad?
Electronic book. Supposed to be the best one available at the moment.
Ordered one, hasn't turned up yet.
Work colleague has one and I borrowed it for the night- very good and very easy to use!!
Book reader, very portable. Suppsoed to be to books what the Mp3 was to music
my mate had one and didn't really get on with it, i had a quick go one and think for the money its a good buy.
considered an ipad?
iPad can do a lot more, but is less suited to book reading as the bright colour screen uses power constantly. The Kindle (plus other ebook readers) use a different display technology that only uses power when you 'turn' a page, so last much longer on a single charge.
Have a look at the Android tablet 2.1,
I have the Android Kindle App on my HTC Desire. It's obviously not the same reading experience, even with the screen brightness turned down due to the different technologies involved but I have played with one in-store. They're OK - hold lots of books, charge lasts a long time, but quite expensive as they're still 'new' technology. Despite loving technology, I have to say I still prefer holding a real book (which you can get from the library for free if you wish!) when reading.
